Alina Padilla-Miller is a doctoral candidate in the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon. For the last 15 years, she has worked in various platforms related to print journalism, live television, social media development and 3D immersive environments. While finishing her dissertation, Alina has been working for the Center of Advanced Technology in Education at the University of Oregon. Within the center her focus is on two grant funded projects where she designs marketing material, designs and maintains websites, serves as content creator for all the social media, produces digital stories and creates machinima. In April of 2011, Alina was awarded an ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) fellowship. As part of her outreach efforts in 2011, Alina taught a weekly digital storytelling for second and third grade students and documented the entire process. Alina’s research focus is improving the bridge between education and technology.
